Somehow swallowing painkillers has been easier too.

I feel more comfortable lying on my stomach, which was something that constrained my throat/neck previously.

As well as being able to brush the back of my teeth, I’m also able to use a tongue scrapper/brush the back of my tongue. Before I could only brush the front half of my tongue and would start to gag.

It has given me more self-confidence too by trying to avoid the thought of fear I previously had

I disliked being in a crowded room. But after reading the book, I attended a friend’s housewarming party.

After reading the book, I feel more comfortable brushing the back of my teeth and tongue without gagging as much as before. I also feel less anxious during dental-related situations and more confident managing my gag reflex in everyday situations.
I feel like I don’t think about the issues as much as I used to, so the book has helped me from that perspective. Previously it felt like a pre-assumption that I would experience these issues before attempting, but now I feel less anxious.
Currently I have a partial denture, prior to an implant. I am managing to wear it most of the day without gagging. Previously I had to remove it regularly due to gagging. I even trimmed it with a Dremel due to it being too bulky and caused significant gagging!

I was still able to induce a gagging reflex by putting my toothbrush to the very back of my tongue, however using the breathing technique it was slightly hard to achieve the gag.
I feel able to brush my teeth better, including using a water flosser which I was not able to before. I also feel more comfortable allowing people to touch my neck.
It has given me the confidence to know that I do have control over my “gagging” to some extent and that it is not something that I just have to learn to live with.
I feel like I am much more mindful when brushing my teeth and I breathe into the whole process now allowing a calmness and not rushing to avoid a lot of the gagging I once did
I always had issues wearing buffs when going hiking, this was really not good especially in the winter when it is cold as they provide a good barrier. Since reading this book and practicing, I have been able to wear a buff for around an hour at a time. I intend on keeping up with practicing so I can wear one for long periods of time in the winter.
Following the completion of the program, I have observed a heightened sense of control over my gag reflex. Specifically, I find brushing my teeth, particularly the posterior teeth, to be significantly easier, with a reduced likelihood of triggering a gag response. Additionally, I experience diminished anxiety in situations that previously caused discomfort, such as dental appointments. Although the issue has not been entirely resolved, there has been a notable improvement, and I now possess greater confidence in managing it.
I can now manage situations that used to trigger gagging, such as brushing my teeth more comfortably or staying calmer during dental visits. I’ve also learned how to control my breathing and stay relaxed, which has reduced the intensity of the reflex
I think more carefully about what I am doing when brushing my teeth which was my biggest issue. The deep breathing exercises have made a big difference and also make me feel calmer. My gagging had actually induced vomiting sometimes previously and that has not happened since. Thank you
